New Affordable + Modern Portland Hotel with a View!

New Affordable + Modern Portland Hotel with a View!

Portland has always been a favorite weekend getaway for Justin and I. The waterfront views, charming cobblestone streets and foodie culture make for the perfect weekend away. When we heard about the opening of The Cambria hotel we knew we wanted to try it out when we headed to Portland for my birthday weekend. I was impressed by the affordable room rates and beautiful modern décor so we booked the room, recruited the grandparents to babysit and headed up to Portland.

When we got to The Cambria I was immediately impressed with the modern design. When you walk into the downstairs entryway you are greeted with a beautiful live plant wall and cozy seating area. The lobby is warm and spacious and they even have contactless concierge available.

When we got to our room the first thing I noticed was the incredible view of both the city and Casco bay from the giant floor length windows lining our living space and bedroom. Waking up to Casco bay on our left and downtown Portland straight ahead was such a treat. I loved the modern décor and everything was incredibly clean. The bathroom had a spa-like feel and even had a huge light up Bluetooth mirror!

We loved having the large living space in our suite to relax and do a bit of work. The room also included a wet bar with a coffee station, mini-fridge and microwave. I was very impressed with how clean everything felt and I think the hotel did a great job of balancing a modern feel with a warm and cozy vibe.

We were also able to try the in-house restaurant ALTO the second night of our stay. The restaurant is located in the lobby of the hotel and includes a large bar area and beautiful rooftop terrace. I was a little sad that it was January and far to cold to hang out on the terrace. I picture sitting out by the fire pits with a cocktail in hand ordering appetizers on a warm summer evening. I hope to return to make that a reality when the weather warms up!  While we missed out on the terrace Justin and I were still able to grab a cozy little table right next to a fireplace. We ordered potato croquets and salad to start followed by steak and chicken marsala. Alto had a great cocktail list and a wide variety of locally sourced craft beers.

If your looking for an affordably priced, clean + modern hotel to stay at as you explore Portland I would definitely recommend The Cambria. If you happen to be visiting Portland in the summer make sure you grab a drink at the rooftop terrace as it’s only one of two in the city! It’s a vibe you wont want to miss out on!

 Xo,

Kelly
